After months upon months of hype, press, and quite a few strong reactions, we've finally seen the 2014 Jeep Cherokee in person. As far as everyone in our Danville, KY showroom is concerned, it's a bold addition that fits in just fine with the rest of the new Jeep lineup.

First off, the look may be a bit different from what we've seen before, but we're glad it's not just a scaled-down Grand Cherokee. The smooth lines and aerodynamic design give the midsize crossover its own distinct personality. That being said, it hasn't fallen too far from tree as the Cherokee will get you wherever you want to go. Roads are optional.

When you are pounding the pavement, though, you'll be glad to know that the crossover will save you some cash. As a matter of fact, its EPA estimated 31 mpg on the highway makes it the most fuel-efficient member of the family. Even so the 2.4-liter powerplant under the hood delivers 184-hp and 171 lb-ft of torque.

The trick to its impressive efficiency is the fuel-sipping qualities of the Tigershark mill and the SUV's nine-speed automatic transmission. Put them together, and you're cruising up to 490 miles before you need to fill up again.

400-plus miles is probably pushing it, but if you'd like to check out that fuel economy and performance for say 10-15 minutes, then stop by Bob Allen Chrysler Jeep Dodge & Ram and we'll get you out on a test drive. If you find you've got to cover a few more ticks on the odometer, then talk to our auto finance staff and you can start ticking on your own in no time.
