To capitalize on all of the excitement surrounding this franchise, the Chrysler Group recently employed the star of the films, Will Ferrell, who plays anchorman Ron Burgundy, as spokesperson for its Dodge Durango SUV, and it seems that the advertisements are really paying off.

Sales of the new vehicle have really skyrocketed, with increases of 36 percent versus November 2012. The campaign first launched in October, and since that time, dealers have certainly seen an increased interest in the vehicle, which was lagging behind some other models in terms of sales.

Mike Jackson, CEO of car dealer AutoNation, points out how influential the ad campaign was, stating, "“It is interesting to see where a marketing campaign can take what is really an outstanding vehicle that wasn’t selling well, and send it into the stratosphere."1
