Legendary American automaker Chrysler is increasing its support of the U.S.'s economy through a nearly 425,000-square-foot paint plant next to its current Sterling Heights, MI production facility. This is the first paint plant for the automaker in over two twenty years and is a positive result of the company's recent accomplishments.
During the recession just a couple of years ago, several American automakers were severely suffering. In fact, the Sterling plant was set to shut down in 2010. Alternatively, it's the adding of the new paint plant joining onto the original building. Currently the project is nearly 85 percent complete. Most notably, this will generate nearly 450 new jobs for the surrounding communities.
Chrysler executives have high expectations for this factory and expect is to stay immaculate long after it opens. The process of the paint jobs will include application of a base coat, micro coast, and clear coat. No word yet on which vehicles will be painted here; apparently this news is top secret. The Sterling plant currently manufactures the Dodge Avenger and Chrysler 200.
